Tyler's Justice Center Services
To fully treat and counsel a victim and their family Tyler's Justice Center
offers a number of services within their facility.
Family Advocacy - Tyler’s Justice Center for Children provides
extensive support and follow-up services to abused children and their families. Services
include crisis counseling, referrals for therapy services, referrals for medical
examinations and accompaniment if necessary. We provide criminal justice
education- accompaniment to court proceedings with victim or on behalf of victim,
attend monthly case reviews as advocate for victim and family members, act
as a liaison between victim/family members and social service agencies.
Case Management - Case coordination is critical to an effective multidisciplinary
team response to child abuse cases. Our Case Manager is responsible for
coordinating the entire team, including the victim and non-offending family
members to be present at the Center for forensic interviewing and follow-up
case reviews. This position also provides assessment of the victim and
family members for service intervention needs.
Forensic Interviews - When a child comes
to the Center, he or she receives a forensic interview, a conversation with
the child about his or her abuse that is carefully designed to eliminate suggestibility
using the latest research-based practices. During the interview, multidisciplinary
team members watch and provide feedback to the investigator via a closed-circuit
television system in the next room.
